I have developed many training seminars built specifically for line staff both front and back of house. I use these seminars as an added tool when consulting with a business or as a stand-alone product which businesses can use when staff training is lacking in their operation.The following is a partial list of the staff training seminars I offer.
It’s your real estate
Are you selling it?This seminar is specifically designed for the server.Your station is your property.The restaurant is the agency.Take ownership of its success or failure.Seek the assistance of others to better sell your product.I use the analogy of a real estate company to instill a sense of ownership and teamwork in the operation.(1 hour)
The team philosophy
Are you looking at the whole picture?Most restaurant employees have blinders on.They look at their specific job and don’t look at how their performance affects the team as a whole.This seminar focuses on team-building techniques and how they benefit the overall operation. (1 hour)
Communication is the Key
Is there any?This seminar is for both front and back of house.Often times the communication between front and back of house is lacking.The result is in a less than seamless operation and slower service to the guests.With improved communication we help to bridge the divide between both halves of the operation. (1 hour)
Repeat, Repeat, Repeat
Are the guests returning?Whos responsibility is it to ensure they do?This seminar provides all employees the tools to “keep em’ coming back”I work with management to understand the goals of the operation and use creative ways to instill the philosophy in the staff. (1.5 to 2 hours)
The Steps of Service
What are the steps?First we work with management to get a better understanding of what is expected of the staff and then work with the team to ensure it is carried out.We provide customized steps of service based on the operation and tools to track the progress of the staff.This is a two part seminar.(1 hour management / 1 hour staff)
Know your Stuff
Do they Know? This seminar is geared to finding out the knowledge level of the staff. We first assess the operation and determine the “Need to Know” items. Through Role-play we determine where training or knowledge is lacking and provide management with the tools they need to continue the education of their staff. (1/2 hour management / 1 hour staff)
